Minecraft is sort of the LEGO of video games: It’s less about the rules or the challenge, and more about building whatever you want. People have used it to build everything from scale models of the Earth to working computer circuitboards, but now their creativity has been applied to the internet’s myriad viral videos.
The author of this YouTube video has compiled simulated, block-graphics versions of several of the top viral videos of the past few years using nothing but Minecraft. The retro graphics blend strangely well with the low-fi-in-its-own-way source material.
Videos spoofed include the keyboard cat, the dramatic look gopher, the sneezing panda, that mind-eating “badgers” song, and last but absolutely best, the world-famous double rainbow.
