Video: Obama slow jams the news with Jimmy Fallon

U.S. President Barack Obama appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, and he slow jammed the news. That’s about all you need to know to be inspired to watch this video clip, which has gone over-the-top viral literally overnight.

“Slow Jam the News” is a recurring segment on Jimmy Fallon’s late night talk show. House band The Roots plays groovy music while Jimmy delivers the latest headlines and commentary in a soul operator voice.

There was a lot of anticipation and speculation around President Obama’s appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show; the whole show picked up and moved to North Carolina for a night just to have him as a guest. The President was there in part to promote his proposal to congress regarding student debt, but it was also obviously a kick-off of sorts for his campaign for re-election.

Obama came off a little stiff because his slow jamming focused on elocuting about what he believes needs to be done with student loans, with Fallon providing most — but not all! — of the humorous commentary. In reference to Federal Pell Grants, at one point someone says “Oh, Pell no!”
