The Walking Dead hits PS3, Xbox 360, Mac and PC tomorrow

Robert Kirkman’s dead-serious zombie comic The Walking Dead has already been turned into a TV show — and the reception has been stellar. Now modern-day point-and-click adventure game experts Telltale Games are giving The Walking Dead the video game treatment on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Mac, and PC.

Telltale also produced recent video games based on Back to the Future and Jurassic Park. The studio is known for making story-focused adventure games, not twitchy action shooters. And as with the Back to the Future and Jurassic Park installments, The Walking Dead will tell an entirely new story involving the universe and characters of the source material.

The game’s protagonist is new character Lee Everett, whose journey begins with the comic and TV show protagonist Rick Grimes is still in a coma. You’ll be tasked with making Mass Effect-style, story-defining decisions about who lives or dies, and as the game’s episodes proceed, you’ll have to live with the consequences.

Each of the five episodes cost $5 but you can buy the whole package for $20. PC and Mac gamers can also buy Telltale’s “Almost Everything Pack,” which includes most of Telltale’s other games too. That runs for $42.99.
