Danny Puddi-played Abed has become the soul and driving force in the NBC sitcom Community, and like any sitcom character, he has a few catch-phrases. The most infectious is the least obvious: “cool, cool, cool.” This viral YouTube video is a supercut of every time Abed says “cool” over the course of the series.
Can you count how many times he says it? We’ll spoil it, as the video creators at Buzzfeed did: 102. That’s actually less than you might imagine, though the show has only aired 68 episodes to date.
As a bonus, we’ve included another video: The teaser for tonight’s 8-bit, Nintendo-style video game world gimmick. Each of the characters are transformed into side-scrolling, Super Mario Bros.-esque video game characters. The attention to detail is delightful; when Jeff jumps, he has the same animation as Mega Man.
This is just the latest in a long series of similar tributes and gags. Just a few episodes ago Community emulated an episode of Law & Order, right down to the trenchcoats and the crazy scene-starting sound effects. We’ll thankfully see more of this stuff, as Community has been renewed for another season, though rumor has it that it will be its last.
