After a 7-year hiatus, alt-rockers Garbage are back with a new album: Not Your Kind of People. The album was released yesterday as part of the “Mastered on iTunes” program, but you can also download it on Amazon or AllMusic.
That said, the band or its label chose not to release Not Your Kind of People on streaming services like Spotify and Rdio, so your only option is to buy the album.
Given the mostly positive reviews on Metacritic, you could do a lot worse with $9.99 than this 90s band come-back album. Garbage does a great job preserving the original, processed response to grunge that made them famous while incorporating contemporary production techniques and new compositional experiments.
The album spends most of its time driving forward like a robot on a rampage, but when it slows down, Shirley Manson’s personal (and often bitter) lyrics rise above the noise.
