Passion Pit is prepping its new album Gossamer for a July 24 launch, and the first single just hit today: “Take a Walk.” Listen to it streaming on SoundCloud below.
The song has that same thumping quality that the band became known for with its debut album Manners — but it seems to us to be a little less about impressionism, a little less about electronica, and a lot more about indie rock. That may be a smart move for a band looking to break through from below-the-radar hit to national sensation.
It seems there are a number of bands vying for the label “the next Coldplay.” Passion Pit has stiff competition from other recent breakthroughs like M83, but maybe they have a shot.
