When you have a megahit like Angry Birds, the pressure to follow up with something brilliant is intense. That’s what mobile game-maker Rovio is faced with, and its best effort is a new game called Amazing Alex, which you can now download for your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
Rovio itself calls Amazing Alex “an amazing new physics puzzle game.” It has 100 levels, and in each one you’ll create a contraption built out of as many as 35 household items to guide a ball to its receptacle. There are three stars along the way (think Cut the Rope or Where’s My Water) and the more your ball collects on its Rube Goldberg-style path, the more points you get.
There are some social and community features as well. For example, your solutions to the game’s puzzles shared over the internet with other players. Rovio also promises regular free updates, but don’t be surprised if there are some paid ones in the works as well.
The iPhone and Android versions cost $0.99, while the iPad version goes for $2.99. There’s also an ad-supported, free version for Android. Just head to the download links below.
