Now streaming: Jerry Seinfeld has a new web series about nothing

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld — yes, that Seinfeld — now has a web series on Sony’s digital video property Crackle. It’s called “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” and like that great comedy of the 90s, it is quite literally and intentionally about nothing.

Founded in 2007, Crackle is a Sony-owned web video site that has a special focus on original programming made for the web. Its first hit was an action web series called The Bannen Way. This new Seinfeld series is the first series on the network with an A-list star attached.

The first 15-minute episode is a conversation between Seinfeld and his old sitcom writing partner Larry David, who was the basis for the character George Costanza and who later went on to create the TV series Curb Your Enthusiasm. The ongoing joke about both of those series is that they’re each about “nothing,” and this series takes it even further.
