Netflix introduces a new “Post-Play” feature for TV marathons

Netflix just announced a cool new feature for folks who love to watch marathons of serialized television shows like Lost, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men.

Now when you finish an episode in a TV series, Netflix’s web and PlayStation 3 players will automatically minimize the episode when the credits begin and present you with a one-click option to view the next episode. If you don’t click it, the episode will automatically play in 15 seconds.

If you’d prefer, you can stop it from proceeding to browse the list of episodes or return to the general Netflix interface for finding new shows and movies. Interestingly, the new feature also works for movies. Netflix will use its recommendations algorithm to suggest another movie to watch as the credits roll for the one you just watched.

We haven’t heard any word yet on this feature hitting Apple TV, Roku boxes, or the Xbox 360, but it surely will eventually — though something similar already happens in the Xbox 360 player.

Hate this. It cuts off the last of the previous episode and won’t let me finish no matter what I try. :( Fail again netflix.
